A commission to remodel the building designed by Ryder in 1982 for Vickers. The building, almost half a kilometre long, included heavy engineering workshops, welfare accommodation and extensive testing facilities for their products and armoured fighting vehicles.
The remodelling was to accommodate the co-location of five independent engineering companies owned by the Reece Group. Following analysis of the spatial and operational requirements for each company, the initial phases involved the creation and refurbishment of office space for over 200 staff, workshop space for over 350 staff and redesigning the site access and egress strategy.
Later phases involved extensive remodelling of the existing offices and the creation of an Innovation Centre and a mine clearance testing area.
