Covering a 70ha site, the masterplan brings an urbanism to the campus rarely seen in healthcare development. With a population equivalent to a small town, its structure of streets, squares and gardens promotes pedestrian activity and develops a distinctive, memorable sense of place. “Our new masterplan sets out the future of the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and ties it into the future of the city and the region. As well as our expansion, it covers the site’s infrastructure, sustainability and transportation including important links like the guided bus and the access road. We will also be upgrading existing hospital facilities like outpatients and providing more single rooms.”Steven Graves, Director of Corporate Development, Cambridge University Hospital NHS Trust
