In June, BIM Academy’s Graham Kelly visited Vancouver to meet Adam James and Warren Schmidt who form part of Ryder’s Canadian team

The aim of the visit was to develop opportunities to apply BIM Academy’s experience to support clients and government organisations in British Columbia.

As well as presenting to the estates team at The University of British Columbia, Graham met local built environment consultants and contractors to confirm the growing market demand for BIM and the application of digital tools – particularly in low energy design.

BIM Academy and Ryder’s collaborative experience of successfully integrating Revit and IES environmental analysis software on various international projects was also well received.

During the visit Graham exchanged knowledge with a local cross laminated timber specialist, Structurecraft, following BIM Academy’s recent experience advising Legal and General Modular Homes in the UK.

The visit has resulted in several promising leads and a request to deliver BIM Academy’s multidisciplinary Virtual Project workshop course to the Vancouver Regional Construction Agency later in the year.  This builds on growing international interest in the course which has also been delivered to New Zealand delegates and in Australia, with plans to deliver the course in Hong Kong later in the year.
