Holly Lodge Girls’ College Completes

The event was attended by Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson and MP Stephen Twigg.

The Ryder Architecture designed facility is one of the first schools developed under the Liverpool Schools Investment Programme.  Up to 50 guests attended the official opening with Mayor Joe Anderson commenting “This investment in Holly Lodge Girls’ College has been much needed to make sure pupils get the most out of their learning.”

The new building comprises a main teaching block incorporating humanities classrooms, music, drama spaces, activity hall, central atrium and new café.  Its location and configuration connects with the existing buildings around a landscaped courtyard, the cloister forming a new focus for the school and greatly reducing lost teaching time between lessons.  Completing ahead of schedule and under budget it illustrates the quality and improvement possible within a restrictive budget.

Ryder director Gareth Callen said “We enjoyed working with the school and all stakeholders on the design, development and delivery of Holly Lodge Girls’ College.”

Head teacher Julia Tinsley said “Our pupils and staff absolutely love our new building and we simply can’t wait to start teaching in it.”
