Plans Submitted for Residential Scheme

Plans to build a private rented sector residential scheme featuring 179 apartments on Heber Street have been submitted to the city council.

The detailed proposals were lodged by St James Boulevard Developments for a site to the south of Heber Street. Ryder Architecture were commissioned to design a development tailored to providing high quality purpose built residential accommodation for working professionals in this desirable, accessible city centre location.

The development comprises a mix of studios, as well as one, two and three bed apartments. The building will rise to 14 storeys and includes concierge accommodation on the ground floor fronting Heber Street. Two external courtyards and a roof terrace provide the external amenity space for the residents.

A planning statement prepared by Lichfields on behalf of St James Boulevard Developments said the proposals would have substantial economic benefits and create jobs, increase spending in the local economy and generate council tax.

Ronnie Graham, partner at Ryder said, “We are delighted to have been involved in the redevelopment of this key gateway site, especially as it has lay vacant for so many years. We approached the design with the key objectives of; providing high quality residential apartments, enhancing the public realm and active frontage onto Heber Street and maximising external amenity space for residents.”
