The RIAS Awards benchmark the quality and breadth of architectural endeavour in Scotland
The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, designed by Ryder, is the first hospice in the UK to follow the Scandinavian inspired ‘Sengetun’ model of care which puts placemaking at its heart. Located within Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park, the innovative and welcoming building and landscape offers a light and familiar place where patients can feel at home as medical assistance sits firmly in the background.
Chris Malcolm, partner at Ryder said, “We are extremely proud of this project and it is fantastic for all those involved to see it recognised with a prestigious RIAS award. The building provides world leading facilities and importantly a sensitive, comfortable home for its residents.”
The winners of the RIAS Awards will become the ‘longlist’ for the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award. The shortlist for the 2021 Andrew Doolan Award will be announced on 30 September, with the winner announced on 30 November.
