Peter leads the BIM Academy team, established by Ryder as a joint venture with Northumbria University in 2010. The small but highly successful team now operates globally in partnership with Ryder and Ryder Alliance by helping clients across the built environment to exploit the value of digital technologies and smarter working, particularly in business case development, implementation planning and asset management strategies. Clients include Sydney Opera House, Quintain, Carillion, Hsin Chong Construction and BAE Systems. Peter graduated from Leeds University with a degree in classics in 1981, prior to studying architectural technology at Northumbria University. This was followed by several years in practice in the industry, joining Ryder in 1995 to lead teams delivering a wide range of projects in the leisure, education, manufacturing and healthcare sectors, as well as heading the systems improvement and innovation workstream which included the early adoption of BIM technologies across the practice from 2003. When not travelling the world supporting clients in realising the exciting possibilities of the digital sector, Peter enjoys strolling the Northumbrian countryside, photographing his travels and reminiscing with former bandmates on their musical career in the post punk era.
