The design repositioned Abbey Wood from a car dominated destination to a vibrant pedestrian and community orientated centre.

The visual appearance has been dramatically changed from a poor fragmented strip development to an attractive, enclosed layout, centred around a newly created public realm.

Sustainability was a core principal behind the proposal and has influenced the design, form of construction and materials selected.

Significant landscaping was undertaken and a specially commissioned public art installation was included to capture the public’s imagination and create a sense of place.

The scheme was a finalist in the MAPIC Awards 2014 and was shortlisted for the BCSC Gold Award in 2014.
