Newcastle upon Tyne, UK - Office
As part of the wider Pilgrim Street development, Bank House in Newcastle City Centre offers a healthy balance between work and out of hours. Broken down over 12 floors, it is a prime office location flooded with natural light and breathtaking views over Newcastle's city scape.
Ryder approached the project hand in hand with the client, landowners and the local authorities to provide the city with a catalyst development that stood tall among the rest. An innovative working approach between private sector design and public sector authorities resulted in a cost-effective office accommodation for the south side of Pilgrim Street.
Bank House stands tall in an area historically not known for high-rise structures, making it a distinctive component of the Pilgrim Street development. Confronting commercial challenges and mindful of the impact on city centre infrastructure, we engaged in collaborative efforts—from architects to the city council—to follow regulations while crafting an architectural design that attracts investment to the city.
With a 360 degree view across Newcastle City Centre, offering an exceptional workspace, Bank House is a BREEAM Excellent building designed using a ‘fabric first’ approach to ensure reduced CO2 emissions during the building's lifecycle.
