The new mental health facility at Whittington Hospital provides 78 inpatient beds over four floors of accommodation.

From a planning perspective, the landscape forms an important frontage to Dartmouth Park Hill.  Its naturalistic approach sets the development comfortably into the streetscape.  The main community entrance and café terrace provides a welcoming arrival experience and recreational space.

A ramped footpath runs through a series of gardens, creating an attractive route around the building which negotiates the significant level changes naturally.

A contemporary new plaza provides a transition between the neighbouring listed Jenner building and the mental health facility.  Planters soften the space and seating opportunities spread across the plaza.

In the building a series of courtyard gardens are designed to provide service users with places for relaxation, socialising, games and sport.
