Ryder was appointed as part of a multi disciplinary team to develop the Durham City Cultural Programme (DCCP), a culture led regeneration programme, focused around two place based projects: Riverbanks and Millennium Place within the World Heritage Site and Conservation Area setting of Durham city centre.

Placemaking is at the heart of DCCP, celebrating heritage and culture to bring communities together, build a sense of place and inspire local pride. Millennium Place and Riverbanks improve connections with the rest of the city, prioritising walking and cycling, and provide spaces which are accessible, inclusive, safe and welcoming.

Ryder led the visioning process and design sprints, bringing together a range of stakeholders including Durham County Council, Durham University and the Cathedral. The outcomes from these sessions have informed the key success criteria, constraints and opportunities, and initial options.
