Durham Police Authority Headquarters
A fully integrated working environment bringing together some 400 people including police officers, administrative support, response and communications centre and a criminal justice unit.
The design responds to its parkland setting with glazing to exploit the magnificent views towards Durham Cathedral and its southern approaches.
The accommodation is arranged on three floors around a full height central concourse, which forms a focal point for all circulation and activity and is fully glazed to allow natural light into the heart of the building.
Future flexibility to accommodate changes in police strategy was fundamental to the design and manifests itself in a modular structure, planning grid and service integration.
