Ryder, in collaboration with Farrells, delivered the new Kowloon East Regional Police Headquarters to support Hong Kong Police Force’s vision of striving for excellence.
Responding to a constrained site within the Kai Tak regeneration area, the development is built on the former Kai Tak Airport police base. KERPHQ provides accommodation over 20 floors comprising specialist operational facilities, headquarter command accommodation and a public facing divisional police station.
The design is led by the police force’s values of professionalism, integrity and honesty. Throughout the building, the force’s strong heritage is balanced with modernity, from the interior materials palette to the striking external façade. Internally, flexible floor plates and common facilities promote effective communication and engagement between the police functions and allow for a high degree of future adaptability.
Sustainability is a key consideration and the design responds to Hong Kong’s design codes to provide positive external and internal environments. The project has achieved HKGBC’s BEAM Plus New Buildings V1.2 Platinum certification.
