Nestled in the intersection of Bloomsbury, King’s Cross and Faringdon.

The development is on the site of the iconic Mount Pleasant postal sorting office, adjacent to the Postal Museum, attracting over 130,000 visitors a year.

Mount Pleasant is a cornerstone between two new public thoroughfares, Jubilee Walk and Salutation Gardens. The new interconnection is designed to significantly improve residents and public access to green spaces in the local area.

Project team.

Working on such a prominent site, the project team and trusted supply chain worked closely with London Borough of Camden to seamlessly integrate Mount Pleasant into the wider masterplan, from landscaping, coordination of the spa and fitness centre, down to detailed design features such as the deep reveals of the windows – designed to provide articulation and variety in the facade, whilst Juliet balconies maximise ventilation and provide amenity for residents.

Reflecting the character of London’s historic warehouses.

Ryder progressed the project from developed design, working closely with the contractor McAleer & Rushe, providing quality delivery to NHBC standards, achieving a BREEAM Very Good rating and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.

The buildings are striking yet clean and simplistic, taking inspiration from an industrial material palette – predominantly light buff coloured ‘London stock’ bricks with flush pointed natural colour lime mortar and metal balconies and railing supplemented by carefully detailed brick bonding.
