Project TypeHealthcare

Value£44m

Area20,600sqm

The project provides a new outpatient building and reconfigures a significant part of the existing hospital to improve clinical functionality and efficiency.

The design integrates the existing hospital and the new extension with an architectural expression and form that expresses the unification of the whole hospital building as one development.

The concept is a contemporary play on the massing expressed by the six storey podium along Victoria Street. The top of the existing podium is extended across to the extension podium to create a greened box. On top of this we have set back the expressed upper box which sits with its south westerly face, flush with that of the existing building. This juxtaposition provides a natural break at level seven where the main entrance is located to the outpatient functions.
