Ryder developed the masterplan for the Council’s successful £25m town deal investment plan for Redcar. Our team devised an engagement strategy to agree the vision with the project board and key community and industry stakeholders, receiving over 2,000 responses.
A key driver was to improve connections between the high street and the seafront. A new public space for events and markets, with the sea as a backdrop, celebrates Redcar’s sense of place.
On the high street soft landscaping is proposed and along the seafront are improved pavements, cycle paths and crossings.
An active travel corridor links the town centre, housing and the Teesworks employment site. New and improved housing and a Clean Energy Education Hub were also proposed.
Ryder has since been commissioned to develop town deal projects including a leisure and culture attraction and coastal activity hub.
