The redevelopment of West Suffolk Hospital sees the creation of a new garden hospital within the mature parkland setting of the Hardwick Manor site.
The new state of the art accommodation delivers the same core services as today including emergency care, diagnostics, outpatients, maternity, paediatrics, surgery and chemotherapy.
The setting and connections to the landscape provide therapeutic and healing benefits for the patients and an uplifting environment for staff, visitors and the wider community.
The garden hospital concept – informally called Pavilions in the Park – breaks up the mass of the hospital accommodation into a number of distinct blocks. The spaces created by the separation of these elements become landscaped garden and parkland areas.
