Oriel is the relocation of all services from Moorfields Eye Hospital and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology to a new facility.
Our vision was for a striking building that sits confidently in its context. An environment for innovation to flourish, inspiring improvements in people’s sight and communicating the ambition of Oriel as an innovative, integrated eye care, research and education facility. This strong identity builds on the heritage of Moorfields Eye Hospital, reinforcing their reputation as an international centre of excellence and establishing Oriel as a legible destination in the wider regeneration of King’s Cross and the Knowledge Quarter.
Functional space is organised in a series of petals around a central stem of sensory spaces, connecting people to provide a legible and effective organisational diagram responsive to change as the partners of Oriel develop their journey to integration.
