The Whey Aye Observation Wheel celebrates Newcastle’s continued and momentous transformation of the Tyneside river corridor for public enjoyment.
Landmarked by the tallest observation structure in Europe, the 300m long promenade is designed to tell the amazing story of the north. This public realm extends Newcastle Quayside east, drawing visitors through a landscape that invites, excites and inspires.
This creates the stage set for the Whey Aye experience, providing places for entertainment, food and beverage, and socialising with a large multimedia screen addressing the key arrival plaza. References of the crane lines and the footprint of a long lost chapel provide a nod of respect to the heritage of the site and tell the story of the site’s past.
