Plan Bee presentation

PlanBEE (Built Environment Education)

In 2016, we launched the PlanBEE programme—a two year apprenticeship in design, construction and management. The programme includes six work placements, providing students with experience of working in all aspects. On completion, students progress into architecture, engineering, surveying and construction, with the opportunity to become a member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technology, the Chartered Institute of Building, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

Apprenticeship programme

Ryder has been at the forefront of supporting young people into built environment careers since the 1990s. We are passionate about attracting a diverse range of people and are proud to provide a variety of professional pathways. We hope you enjoy exploring career pathways including the PlanBEE higher apprenticeship programme, the masters level degree apprenticeship, and alternative pathways with our experts in architectural technology, landscape architecture, interior design, and urban design, as well as the support provided for professional qualifications.

Learning and Development

From study leave for professional qualifications, to our regular in house training and mentoring opportunities, and leadership development including Harvard and our bespoke programme, we are dedicated to supporting our people at every stage of their continued professional development.

Since 1995, the Ryder Bursary has provided over 25 financial grants to support students during full time studies. Graduates then receive a two year training contract to achieve their professional qualifications. The scope and commitment provided has few equals in supporting architectural education. We also support people who prefer to follow an apprenticeship route rather than the traditional university education.

Every year, our new design assistants and designers compete in teams for our graduate design competition. This provides an opportunity to put new skills into practice, lead the design process, meet new colleagues and work collaboratively.
