The relocation of the existing school of art and design onto the main campus.
Work included a mix of new build, refurbishment and extension. Grimsby Institute’s existing four storey block has been fully refurbished to accommodate the facility and a four storey extension now ties into the building’s floor levels.
The design enables performing arts and music to be located within the same building. It comprises a 200 seat theatre, dance studio, theatre, control rooms and studios.
The envelope, designed in collaboration with April Virgoe, forms an artwork which reflects the building use, inspired by the campus layout.
