Newcastle upon Tyne, UK - Sport
Ryder was selected via a design competition to develop and deliver a new sports centre for Newcastle University, integrating leisure and learning on campus.
Driven by Newcastle University’s ambition to educate for life, the new facility provides a variety of fully accessible spaces for people to learn, teach and connect through sport.
The four storey centre has academic spaces to support the faculty of sports science. This comprises performance, physiology and analysis laboratories, a 60m gait track, and an environmental analysis suite including a body pod. In addition, there are squash courts, multipurpose studios, a fitness gym and an eight court sports hall. Views into the building allow all users and passers by to engage with sport on campus.
