Tolworth Hospital provides a new mental health facility that enhances the local environment and maximises the benefits to users through an integrated landscape and building design.
Co designed as one, the building and landscape maximise biophilia benefits and provide the best experience for everyone using the facility. A series of internal therapy and recreation courtyards provide valuable secure garden spaces allowing service users to access fresh air and connect with nature in a comfortable homely environment.
The layout of the wider campus has been reconfigured to promote community access through the site by foot and cycle, welcoming visitors into the new central plaza and café space, and thus enhancing the connection with local residents. Servicing routes have been planned to provide clear separation from the general public for safety and user experience benefits.
