Hong Kong - Civic
Ryder created a striking new look for the head office of Hong Kong’s international grade arts and cultural hub governing body, West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA). The Cultural District is a vibrant cultural quarter on a harbourfront site in the heart of Hong Kong.
Providing lead consultant and interior design services, our approach is bolstered by WKCDA’s ambitions for sustainability and universal accessibility, and celebrating the cultural range of disciplines, artists, and spectators that inhabit the cultural district.
These reflections guide the user through the building from the feature reception on arrival, up through the seven floors of the tower.
Materials are expressed with honesty, integrity and precision in an aesthetic that is true to WKCDA’s brand, using subtle tones, textures and patterns to create layers of interest which guide the user through the building.
A truly recognisable intervention of the building is characterised by the four storey atrium with feature suspended sculptural steel, glass and oak finished staircase. The staircase respects the existing geometric form of the structure, providing a focal point of connectivity.
BIM was proactively used through all project stages before delivering the client with the completed Model for continued use as an Asset Management Tool.
The fit out achieved BEAM Plus Interiors ‘Platinum’ status, testament to our design and client team’s shared commitment to sustainability.
