Ian Crow
Principal - Newcastle
Ian joined Ryder in 2004 and is responsible for some of the practice’s most significant projects across commercial and health sectors. He has particular expertise in place led regeneration and urban design and has led various masterplanning, public realm and urban renewal projects, including the £500m regeneration of Newcastle’s Pilgrim Street. Ian studied at Northumbria University and Edinburgh College of Art and now provides studio tutoring to third year students. Ian is passionate in promoting placemaking and people centred design solutions. He works closely with town planners, urban designers through the evolution of a project, to ensure that it delivers the best results for all stakeholders. Ian is a RIBA regional council member, a board member of literature charity New Writing North, and represents Ryder across the construction industry, in forums focusing on education, health and planning. In his spare time, he loves to explore the fantastic Northumberland landscape with his young son.
