Ryder Alliance Strengthened by New Members

The first Ryder Alliance forum took place in Hong Kong from 14 to 18 November.

In 1970 Ove Arup, in his key speech, identified a number of challenges facing his practice.  Many are similar in magnitude to those facing architectural practice in the 21st century – the increasing pressure on the environmental impact of buildings, their methods of construction and their impact in use.

An international move towards integrated multidisciplinary working, with BIM being the catalyst, and the development of manufacturing techniques to improve off site assembly led to the creation of Ryder Alliance.

These challenges present huge opportunity. Clients are seeking talented people dedicated to delivering an unrivalled service coupled with the best in architectural design – the best by international standards.  Working in a collaborative environment the Ryder Alliance of likeminded, similar sized practices share an ethos and entrepreneurial ambition with expertise in a range of areas providing international capacity and credibility.  The partners believe by working together we will continue to develop and provide great opportunities for our people and our clients.

All Alliance members were represented including the newest additions – Studio-INEX, Budapest and Ward Robinson, Newcastle.

Jonny Seebacher, architectural director at Ryder said, “We are very excited about the potential opportunities with the  Alliance following the forum in Hong Kong and we are delighted to welcome Studio-INEX and Ward Robinson to the Alliance bringing with them a wealth of experience in their specialist fields.”

Day one focussed on introductions and highlighted the strength and depth of each company.  During day two, a business facilitator helped the group review the strategy and goals for the Alliance as well as discussions on how to improve communication and continue the good work to date such as the staff exchanges.  The members also enjoyed a trip up to the Peak to take in stunning views of Hong Kong.
